
Artist #16-The Showmen. The Showmen would come from Norfolk, Virginia and they would hit the music scene in 1961. They would be remembered for their rock anthem “It Will Stand”. They would consist of General Norman Johnson, Milton Wells, Dorsey Knight, Gene Knight and Leslie Fenton. Their only record to hit the nation’s Top 100 would come in November 1961, “It Will Stand” (peaked at #61). It would hit the charts again in July of 1964, this time peaking at #80.

The lead singer of The Showmen, General Johnson, would have greater success with the 70’s group called Chairman Of The Board.
