Johnny Burnette

Artist Spotlight #18- Johnny Burnette. The younger brother of Dorsey Burnette was born March 25, 1934 in Memphis, Tennessee. The Burnette brothers would know Elvis Presley as they were growing up. Along with a friend, Paul Burlison, they would form a group called the Rhythm Rangers (1952).This group would eventually become The Rock And Roll Trio (mid-late 50’s). Johnny’s solo career was bigger than his brother’s but it was cut short by tragedy. He would drown as a result of a boating accident in Clear Lake, California (August 14, 1964).
