Major Lance
Major Lance (this was his real name) was born April 4, 1939 in Winterville, Mississippi, but he was raised in Chicago, Illinois. He would eventually be married ( the father of 9 children). One of his children is Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former mayor of Atlanta, Georgia. His recording success began in August of 1963 with a song that would go to #8 in the country-“The Monkey Time”
In November of 1963 he hit the charts with “Hey Little Girl” (it peaked at #13).
In January of 1964 he would have “Um ,Um, Um, Um” (peaked at #5)
