Trivia Question #1

In the year 1961 a record was released by a rockabilly trio that would feature two brothers who would each go on to have solo success in the field of rock & roll. The group would be called The Texans and their record was called “The Green Grass Of Texas”. Question # 1 “Who were these famous brothers?

Answer: They were Johnny and Dorsey Burnette. Johnny would be known for such hits as “Dreamin” and “You’re Sixteen”, both from the year 1960. Dorsey Burnette would also have his signature hit in 1960-it would be called “A Tall Oak Tree”.






Trivia Question #2

From 1956 to 1960 Gale Storm would star in her TV series called “The Gale Storm Show”. The show was also called “Oh Susanna”. Gale had already been the star of an earlier TV series called “My Little Margie”. In “Oh Susanna” she had a co-star who would have an 1980’s rock band named after her. Question #2 “Who was this legendary actress from this 1950’s TV show?

Answer: The co-star on “Oh Susanna” was ZaSu Pitts. The name ZaSu was a combination of the names of two of her Aunts, Eliza & Susan. She was born January 3, 1894 and she would be an actress in the early days of movies, appearing in many silent movies (her earliest in 1917). The group named after her was formed in San Francisco and they were active between the years 1984-1987. They were called The ZaSu Pitts Memorial Orchestra.

In the early 1950’s, one of the more popular singing groups in the country were the Urick Brothers. Their parents had immigrated to our country from the Ukraine. They would be born in Malden Massachusetts and their biggest success would come in the earlier parts of the 1950’s. One of these brothers would even have a solo career in the mid to late 1960’s. Question #3 “What name did the Urick Brothers use in their recording career?

Answer: The Urick Brothers would be Gene, Joe, Vic and Ed. They would be known to us as The Ames Brothers. They would score 25 Top 40 hits during the decade of the 1950’s. Ed Ames would have some solo success in the latter part of the 1960’s. His biggest hit would come in the year 1967 with “My Cup Runneth Over”
