Dion & The Belmonts

Artist Spotlight #13-Dion & The Belmonts.

Their group would consist of Dion DiMucci, Angelo D’Aleo, Fred Milano and Carlo Mastrangelo. They were from the Bronx, New York and they were named after Belmont Avenue in the Bronx.

Their first nationwide hit would come in May of 1958 and it was called “I Wonder Why” (peaked at #22).

This next song would enter the nation’s Top 40 on April 27, 1959, and it was called “A Teenager In Love”.

This next song would enter the nation’s Top 40 on January 11, 1960, and it was called “Where Or When” (it peaked at #3).

This next song takes us back to the beginning of the career of Dion & The Belmonts. One of their first recordings came in 1957 -it wasn’t a hit. It was recorded on a small record label called Mohawk Records. Dion & The Belmonts and a lesser known song called “We Went Away”.
