Major Lance
Major Lance (this was his real name) was born April 4, 1939 in Winterville, Mississippi, but he was raised in Chicago, Illinois. He would eventually be married and be the father of 9 children, among them would be Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former mayor of Atlanta, Georgia. His recording success would begin in August of 1963 with a song that would go to #8 in the country-“The Monkey Time”
In November of 1963 he would hit the charts with “Hey Little Girl” (it peaked at #13).
In January of 1964 he would have “Um ,Um, Um, Um” (peaked at #5)
