Echoes From The Past
As we travel through the corridors of time, these were the sounds that would come from our radios. These were the songs that would form the soundtrack of our lives while we were growing up. I’ve been busy researching the music from 1950-1969. I’ve used the Billboard Top 40, the Billboard Top 100, Bay Area music surveys from 1956-1969 and a book called “Bubbling Under The Hot 100 1959-1981 (this book helped me to date songs that didn’t make the Top 100 or the local music surveys). I’ve also used my memory of these songs, as a record collector (knowledge of some of the lesser known recordings in the Rock Era). The result of this research is over 3,800 songs that are now on my playlist for my various jukeboxes. Radio stations still play some of the music from this era, but not everything. I want to provide visitors to my site with some of the songs that have been long forgotten. Since I have a playlist now, I will try to update these jukeboxes a lot more frequently. We still have the Video Of The Week, The Rhythm & Blues Jukebox, The Elvis Jukebox, The Have You Heard Jukebox, The Doo Wop Drive In (formerly The Doo Wop Jukebox), The 1950-1954 Jukebox, The 1955-1959 Jukebox, The 1960-1964 Jukebox and The 1965-1969 Jukebox. I was there in the beginning of this era and I hope I can bring back many memories for those of you that were there also. If you’re new to the music, sit back and listen to the music of this golden era. I will be working on changes to all of these jukeboxes over the next week.
